Animal Costumes

I am going to have my artist (and a dancer) dressed up in animal costumes. I am not yet sure whether the costumes will be onesies or fancy dress costumes, however the options are:

  • Bear
  • Giraffe
  • Tiger
  • Pig
  • Bunny
  • Monkey
The people are going to be either in front of a blank screen dancing and singing into the camera, or walking round the town and city dancing with people and making friends with strangers on the trains, tubes and streets.

There could be a storyline and it leads to a dance-off, or the animals could just begin having a dance off in the middle of the street/in front of the blank screen. The reason I have chosen to make my video have animal costumes is because it is unique and goes against the conventions of a typical hip-hop/R'n'B music video. It is pastiche as I am imitating the original conventions of a hip-hop music video, however with some different aspects.

Digipak Idea

This is my digipak (front cover) idea. The bears are showing that my video is people dressed in animal costumes. The bears are supposed to be 'gangster' as they have had a dance off in the video, and they are in front of a brick wall which may have graffiti on to emphasise the 'gangster'.

Song Choices

Above are the songs that I am considering using for my music video, and the narrative which could go with most of those songs. Although I probably wouldn't use a song where the narrative didnt work, if I did, the narrative would only be changed a little bit to suit the song more.

Not all of the locations are 100% where I will be going, however there is a chance that I would film outside of someones house as if the animals were 'breaking up for the final time'. I may also go inside the hosue as I feel that this would make the video and the animals relationship seem even more personal and real which might relate to the viewers.

The age group of people who I would be aiming my music video at would be children, teenagers and young adults. This is because I think children would like the cuddly animals, teenagers and young adults could connect with the relationship that is going on in the video and also, all ages would enjoy the fact that there are animals dancing.

Meeting

Today I am meeting with my artist to discuss the new ideas that will be happening and the new outfit ideas or costumes that he could potentially be wearing. There is now the possibility of another person involved as another dancer, however they will be also in a costume if the artist is - unless they are going to be dressed in the fashionable clothes that are popular now.

Here are the initial ideas of the new video:

SONG CHANGE

After doing some initial testing shots with my artist, we started to come up with better ideas for more upbeat songs and as the song I originally chose to do was not very upbeat and could not have very many different ideas which I could realistically shoot, although the ideas I had were good.

We have now decided to change the song to a more upbeat and exciting one where I can use some exciting ideas. My video will be slightly controversial in the fact that I might have people in animal costumes dancing/having a dance off.

Inside Message (CD) and Inside Cover

On the inside of my CD cover, there will be a heartfelt message from my artist. I think the inside message will say something such as:

I dedicate this album to all my fans.

Without your constant love and support,
this album could never have been produced,

always yours
