Font Idea - Audience Feedback

Above is the fonts which I am considering using for my CD cover. I asked 10 people to circle which font they most preferred and above were the results.

Out of the 10 people I asked, 60% of the vote went to the second font for a CD cover, however some people also gave me feedback about which fonts they preferred for other types of genres and why they liked the font they chose.

Audience Perception

I have asked around 11 people to write down their thoughts about the song, as well as what they can see happening in the video themselves, and the colours that the song made them feel. I had many different responses, as well as some similar responses about the song.

Here are some of the notes which people wrote for me - I will keep them as a reference for if I need any inspiration for my video as the song I have chosen is a very long song (approx 5 minutes).

Idea's Explained

My idea's include the boy singing, however I think he could be singing into a microphone and possibly be playing an instrument such as a guitar - the music involves Ed Sheeran playing the guitar so it will probably be a guitar.

I haven't yet decided whether I would like my artist to be very smartly dressed in a suit and very smart shoes, or if I would like him to be wearing baggy clothing - baggy jeans and a t-shirt, possibly with a hoodie and some chunky trainers. I might even have a combination of both styles, however I am not sure whether this would work therefore I may have to film the video in both styles and see which one suits the song and style more.

I was thinking that for part of the music video, when there is a narrative section, there could be flashbacks to when the grandparents were young and first in love, and they could be dancing outside, surrounded by their family (such as their grandchildren and their own children).

Moodboard

I gathered information from 11 people around my school and asked them to listen to the song and write down how it made them feel and what the pictured happening in the music video. Through the information that the people gave to me, I created a moodboard of images relating to the peoples thoughts.

Schedule

I have spoken to the main artist who will be in my music video, and we have found times when we are both able to meet and do the actual filming within our weeks. As we are both in sixth form and have weekend jobs we have had to make time after school (or if we didn't have any lessons from lunch time onwards, Bradley - the artist - has agreed to come and help me.

These are the times which Bradley and I are both available or unavailable. It will be hard fitting making the video as we are both rarely free, however through great determination, we can complete the filming for the video in a matter of weeks.

Questionnaire - Audience Opinions

I posted this questionnaire on social medias and asked for people's responses and personal thoughts of the song and the way they see the video in their minds.

I am going to be making a music video to Ed Sheeran's 'Afire Love'. If you aren't sure what the song sounds like here is the link - https://youtu.be/JznXx1Ns374
The song doesn't have a video which means that my video would be completely individual to the song, however I don't want to make my music video seem too much like any of Ed Sheeran's other music videos. His videos are very performance based, and although I do want my music video to have some performance in, I would like my video to be different to his other videos.

1.     When you hear this song, how do you see the music video in your mind?

2.     What are your personal thoughts of the song?

3.     When you hear this song, what sort of clothing do you imagine the artist to be wearing? What is their image?

4. What colour do you think the clothes the artist is wearing should be?

5. How should the artists hair/makeup be done?

6.     How does the song make you feel - what colours could represent these emotions?

7.     What could be happening in the music video? (What do you see happening?) Is it happening in a location or studio, and is it a performance or narrative video?

8.     Is there anyone besides the main person in the video? A dancer, or another person in the narrative? Male/female?

9.     Should the video be slightly controversial or should it be simple?

10.     Should I put a child in the video when Ed Sheeran is singing about when he was a child and his Grandfather never remembered him?
